Spring, 2014

By you coming to our conferences we see that you too want to be the best that you can be. I applaud this membership for your commitment in learning and growing in the most respectable field of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

To recap the 3 days of events it all began on Friday with a Physics review for the registry.
On Friday night we all gathered for our friendly Quiz Bowl competition. This year we had 4 schools competing in the General category which were, South Piedmont Community College, Pitt Community College, Johnston Community College and Cape Fear Community College. For the Echo Quiz Bowl there were 2 teams competing which were, Johnston Community College and Pitt Community College. All the teams did a fantastic job! Winners of the 2014 Quiz Bowl went to Cape Fear CC and Johnston CC! Good job guys! Their names are forever etched into the Golden Probe Award plaque.

Of course all-day Saturday and half of Sunday was busy in 3 lecture tracks, OB/GYN, ECHO, and ABD/VAS. We had great speakers and we want them to know how much we appreciate their knowledge and their willingness to share it with us. Speakers this year included;

On our Saturday Lunch/Business meeting we ate a fabulous meal while we took care of NCUS business. The 2014 Sonographer’s Excellence Award was presented to George Blanchard. Congratulations George!

Also at this meeting the President’s torch was passed to me from Dr. John Cotton, who did a fantastic job as our 2013-2014 president. I am honored to be able to serve as the NCUS 2014-2015 president. I hope to live up to the legacy of those that have come before me. Luckily, I am surrounded by a board of dedicated professionals selflessly giving their time and talent to fulfill the mission of this society.
