Fall, 2018

Happy Autumn! Cooler weather and beautiful Fall colors have arrived!
On October 20th, we enjoyed a full day of learning and fellowship at the Friday Center in Chapel Hill. Holding conferences like this is only possible through the selfless efforts of many. I really appreciate our new central office director Rhonda Thomas as she has done a truly fantastic job! Also appreciate our NCUS board members and in particular our next NCUS president, Jeff Jewell for organizing this Fall event.

NCUS provided a variety of awesome speakers including George Blanchard, Heather Nicoletto, Marta Thorup, Brittany Byrd, Dr. Sara Ahmadi, Diana Strickland, Dr. Elias Jaffa, Melissa Lefevre, Patrick Washko, Dr. Melissa Daubert, Jonathon Sweatman, and Rachel Scalf. A variety of topics included specialties in OBGYN, Vascular, General, and Echo. Participants also enjoyed visiting all of our valued vendors including Diagnostic Health Group, Excel Imaging Solutions, Samsung Ultrasound, Siemens Healthineers, StudyCast by Core Sound Imaging, and SuperSonic Imagine. Our venders are a very important part of the conference experience as we get an opportunity to see that latest and greatest in ultrasound technology.
As always, we strive to meet your needs at our meetings so, if you have any suggestions of topics, speakers, or activities, please contact me or any board of director, or by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. Save the Date for our 2019 Spring Symposium in Concord, North Carolina which will be April 12-14, 2019.
I hope you enjoy the holidays with your loved ones! I look forward to seeing you all at our next Spring meeting!

Calling all North Carolina ultrasound professionals to share knowledge to help others be better ultrasound professionals! You too can contribute in many ways including submitting an article for the newsletter and lecturing at a NCUS conference. I am not a seasoned speaker but I want to be able to contribute to our profession in this way so I decided to lecture at the Fall 2018 conference. I found everyone in attendance to be very supportive and kind which made me more comfortable than I ever thought possible. Fall meetings are a great opportunity to build the public speaking skill so please consider it. I suggest you start collecting interesting ultrasound images to be used in future lectures or articles, so when you get enough images it won’t be hard to get that lecture ready! When you are within 6 months to 1 year from being ready to lecture your topic contact a board member to get on the list. Don’t forget the NCUS Foundation will pay for two members to attend Spring Conference for free. In order to receive the grant, you will have to complete the application between December 15 – February 15. You will find the application on our webpage www.ncus.org. Be sure to LIKE our Facebook page so you will receive important NCUS announcements in your newsfeed. You can also nominate future board of directors and sonographer excellence winners on our webpage.

We are so fortunate to be members of the largest state ultrasound society in the United States. We look forward to seeing you all in April to celebrate and honor this awesome profession!
